Young women always want to know their future, that’s why they look for signs of the destiny. In the past in Russian villages divinations were very popular, especially at Christmas night.

 

Divinations were different, but they were all about marriage.For example, a woman stood in front of the pile of logs and with her eyes closed she picked up a log. If it was a smooth log, her groom would be handsome. If it was a thick smooth log, he would be rich. And if it was not smooth log, he would be ugly. There were a lot of divinations like this with rings and stones from the ice-holes.

   If the groom likes cats, he will be very kind husband.

   If the groom likes dogs, he will be faithful.

   The faith between marriage couple will be if the groom introduces his friends to his bride.

   If the newly wedded couple choose the ring together, they will live in peace and love.

   If the bride is late for a date, she will always serve him supper.

   If the groom is late for a date, he’s just looked for beautiful flowers.

   If a cat chafes the wedding dress, the bride will get some new clothes. If the bride is afraid of tickling, she will be very jealous (or she will be a laugher) If the groom likes chocolate, the kisses will be sweet.

   The groom should be older than the bride to have hearty marriage. The other way the marriage will be funny.

   If the groom and the bride sing, their children will sing too.

   If the bride likes expensive cars, they will be poor soon.

   If the groom doesn’t sleep at night, he will have a headache.

   If the bride wakes up early, she will have a lot of housework.
